The Outfit Initiative

I pair, style, build, map, hunt and gather all in the name of my wardrobe. The more money saved, the more enjoyable the acquisition and yet at this particular juncture and given the title of this blog, it strikes me as odd and perhaps a little ridiculous that I've never posted photos here. Most of the blogs I subscribe to are fashion-related and the common thread among them is that the authors all share their own ensembles and style inspirations with their readers. I figure it's time I brave the ranks.

Happy Thanksgiving

I woke up at 4:15 this morning to drive a friend to the airport. It was dark out and sheets of rain were falling from the sky. About 20 minutes into the ride, I thought it best to pull over; the only thought in my mind, making it home and back under my covers in one piece.

Thankfully, I returned safely and without incident- but instead of going back to bed, I showered, put on a pot of coffee, unloaded the dishwasher, and got the kitchen clean and ready for the preparations.

Now, a few hours later, I'm wrestling a slumber-like fog with a fury because I just can't bear missing a second of this day. It is truly my favorite holiday. No matter the circumstance, where or with whom I have spent it over the years, that distinct tranquility and awareness of how obscenely Blessed I am- remains constant. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving Day!

I had to.

The fit is remarkable, the details are thoughtful and the craftsmanship is exquisite. Frankly, I consider this shoe a public service- And that is precisely how I reasoned that I would be doing both myself and my wardrobe a significant disservice if I didn't promptly rush them home with me. They will be making their debut on the dawn of my 30th year of life :)

Along came Big Bear. . .

This spontaneous getaway was a welcome respite from the storm of emotion and apprehension that I've tossed on over an impending milestone. In less than 2 weeks, I will be 30 years old. The elevation and shock of cool winter air gave me what I had been praying for. . . levity and a little perspective.

The leaves and rocks and trees are calling me. . .

I must go to Cape Porpoise, Maine for a visit. A lovely member posted pictures of baskets filled with leaves and twilight time on the rocks near the water and I felt the urge to clock out, race home and pack every hat, scarf, and argyle sock I own.

In February, I bought a cozy jacket. The hood is lined in faux fur. When I pull it over my head, I can't really hear anything so I'll have to turn and shift to keep a dialogue, but I adore it. I live in Southern California where the weather has never permitted its debut but I think I'll keep it anyway and wear it in Maine.
